1. Cream 1/2 cup of butter and granulated sugar. Add egg and 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla.

2. Mix the flour, baking powder and 1/2 teaspoon of salt. Add to the sugar mixture.

4. On a floured surface, roll out dough to 1/4 to 1/2 inch thickness, and cut into desired shapes.

5. Bake at 400 degrees for 8 to 10 minutes. Don't over-bake!

In a mixer, mix together until creamy the following ingredients in the order given: remaining 1/4 soft butter, powdered sugar, 1/8 teaspoon salt, remaining 1 teaspoon vanilla, 4 teaspoons milk (or more if mixture is dry), and food coloring as desired.
