In a thick bottomed pan combine the sugar and milk.

Bring to a boil and cook until it reaches a soft boil stage.

I put a bowl of room temp water by the pan and after it starts reducing I put a small amount in the water to see if it will form a ball.

If it won't then it needs to cook longer, if it does we are ready to go to step 2)

Quickly add in your butter, peanut butter, and vanilla.

(I always combine these in a bowl while my sugar cooks that way I can quickly dump it in)

Stir it fast!

Once it starts to set it will be like a brick!

Pour onto a buttered plate (also do this in advance)

Allow to cool, then cut.
