I put the butter while still in the wrapper in the microwave for about 7 seconds. Just soften it up a little so it's easier to stir.

Add butter (1 pound-yep, it isn't a typo, it really is 4 cubes), eggs, baking soda, brown sugar, and vanilla together. Mix for 15 seconds.

Then add salt, baking powder and white sugar. Mix for another 15 seconds. Next add the flour (6 to 6 1/2 cups). I start off with 6 cups but if the dough still feels sticky, I add another 1/2 cup. Mix well.

Once it is mixed, add your chocolate chips. For variety, I like to add 1 cup of chocolate chips, 1 cup butterscotch chips and a few white chips. Yummy!

Bake at 375F for 10 minutes or until golden brown on top. This make a lot of cookies, around 4 dozen. I stick half of them in the freezer for a fun treat on a hot day!
