Combine 2 c. flour and yeast in mixing bowl and set aside.

Place lowfat milk, sugar, shortening, and salt in saucepan and heat till just hot.

(Shortening won't be completely melted.)

Remove from heat and add in to flour.

Stir till well combined.

Gradually add remaining flour till stiff dough forms.

Remove from bowl and place on lightly floured surface.

Knead for 3 min.

Place in lightly greased bowl, turning once to coat surface lightly.

Let rise till it doubles in size.

Punch down; let rise again.

Divide dough in half.

Roll out 1/2 inch thick.

Cut with a flour dusted donut cutter.

Deep fry for approximately 1 minute; turn for another minute.
