"Depression" Meat Cakes Or Meat Balls

   Put meat, eggs and onion in bowl; wet bread and add to bowl. Sprinkle salt and pepper over mixture and mix with hands until meat and bread are well blended.

   If too wet, add more bread.

   Shape into cakes and fry like hamburgers.

   Use pan drippings to make gravy and serve with mashed potatoes.

   Same recipe can be used for meat balls (add to mixture 1/2 cup parmesan cheese, 1 tablespoon granulated garlic and 1 teaspoon oregano); follow directions and shape meat in round balls.

   Lay out on cookie sheet and bake in 350u00b0 oven about 1 hour or until done.

   Drop into spaghetti sauce and simmer about 1/2 hour.
