Date And Walnut Cake

   Present heat oven at 80C for 40 minutes.

   Stone dates.

   Chop it into small pieces.

   Soak the chopped dates in sufficient boiling water to cover the dates.

   Add 1/2 teaspoon of cooking soda.

   Cover and let it stand.

   Cream butter and sugar till the sugar has completely melted.

   Add an egg at a time and cream.

   I used a hand beater.

    Add the flour and baking powder to the butter egg mix.

    Once the above are well combined, mix in the dates with a fork.

    Add the walnuts.

    Pour batter into a greased and dusted tin.

    Bake for 45 minutes or more till a toothpick inserted comes out dry at 350F or 180 Celsius.
