Ingredients: ⅔ cup shortening (I use butter); 1 cup brown sugar; 2 eggs; 2 cups nuts, chopped; 2 cups dates, pitted and chopped; 1 orange, grated rind of it; 2 tablespoons orange juice; 1 ½ cups flour, sifted; ¼ teaspoon baking soda; ½ teaspoon baking powder; ¼ teaspoon salt; 1 teaspoon cinnamon; ½ teaspoon clove; ½ teaspoon allspice

⅔ cup shortening (I use butter)
1 cup brown sugar
2 eggs
2 cups nuts, chopped
2 cups dates, pitted and chopped
1 orange, grated rind of it
2 tablespoons orange juice
1 ½ cups flour, sifted

½ teaspoon baking powder

½ teaspoon clove
½ teaspoon allspice

Preheat oven to 375.

Cream sugar and shortening.

Add eggs and cream further.

Add nuts, dates and orange.

Sift remaining ingredients together.

Add sifted to creamed gradually.

Drop by teaspoon full on silpat lined sheets.

Bake 12-15 minutes.
