8 c. sliced apples

1/2 tsp. vanilla
1 to 2 Tbsp. water

Cut shortening into flour and salt.

Add milk to egg yolk to make 2/3 cup.

Roll half to put in jelly roll pan or 13 x 9-inch pan.
