½ cup milk
¾ cup sherry wine

6 cups flour

1 lb citron
1 lb figs or 1 lb dates
1 lb almonds
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon cream of tartar

Cream butter - add sugar gradually and beat thoroughly.

Add beaten eggs, molasses, milk, sherry, rum and flavoring.

Dredge fruit and nuts in one cup of flour.

Sift remaining flour, baking soda, cream of tartar, and spices, and add to mixture with fruit.

This mixture will make three cakes using 2 round tins (approximately 8x3-inch) and one round tin (approximately 6x3-inch) .
