First slice tofu in half down the middle.
-
3
Then cut each section in half horizontally, so the tofu becomes a thin rectangular shape.
-
4
With a paper towel, blot all of the excess water from the tofu, so it can crisp up when you pan fry it.

6
In a hot pan, add about 1/4 inch of high temperature vegetable oil.
-
7
Spread oil around to make sure it covers entire pan.
-
8
Carefully place the tofu pieces in the pan in a single layer.
-
9
Make sure heat is high to medium (safer to have heat a little bit more on the high side).
-
10
It is important to keep the temperature pretty high to get the crispy texture on the tofu.
-
11
It will take about 3 minutes for tofu to get crispy golden brown on one side.
-
12
Once tofu is golden brown, carefully flip and cook the other side for another 3 minutes.

In a large pot, place one layer of cooked tofu.
-
22
Add some of the sauce over the tofu.
-
23
Then place another layer of tofu into the pot and add more sauce.
-
24
Depending on how big your pot is, you may need to place a third layer of tofu.
-
25
Spread the rest of the sauce on top of tofu.
-
26
7.
-
27
Place lid on pot and turn flame high.
-
28
Once sauce starts to boil, reduce heat to low and simmer for 5 minutes so tofu absorbs the flavors of the sauce.

Pair with rice.
