   Wash cucumbers and slice very thin.

   Slice onions thin.

   In large pan or possibly bowl, layer cucumbers, onions, canning salt, and garlic pwdr or possibly garlic salt.

   Fold in a tray of ice cubes and put a tray of ice cubes on top.

   Let stand 3 hrs.

   You may need more ice.

   Then drain thoroughly, discarding the salty water.

   Put slices in a large pan.

   Combine vinegar, sugar, and spices.

    Pour over cucumbers and onion slices.

    Heat just to boiling, ladle into warm sterilized jars and seal.

    One batch makes 6 to 7 pints.

    1 dozen good size cucumbers makes 1 batch.
