Ingredients: 2 c. raisins; 1 c. water; 3 1/2 c. flour; 1 tsp. salt; 1 tsp. baking powder; 1 tsp. soda; 1/2 tsp. cinnamon; 1/2 tsp. nutmeg; 1 c. shortening; 1 3/4 c. sugar; 2 eggs, slightly beaten; 1 tsp. vanilla; 1/2 c. nuts, chopped

2 c. raisins
1 c. water
3 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. soda
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1 c. shortening
1 3/4 c. sugar
2 eggs, slightly beaten
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 c. nuts, chopped

In saucepan, bring to a boil and boil for 3 minutes the raisins and water.

Remove and let cool to room temperature.

(Do not drain.)

In a large bowl, sift together all dry ingredients. In separate bowl, cream shortening and gradually add sugar, beating well.

Add the eggs, then the cool raisins with any liquid.

Then add the dry ingredients, blending well.

Add the vanilla and nuts last.

Drop by tablespoon about 2-inches apart on greased cookie sheet.

Bake at 375u00b0 for 12 to 15 minutes.
