Break up chocolate and melt in a double boiler. Do not let water touch base of bowl. (Or melt chocolate in microwave on low). Cool slightly.

Using electric beaters, beat butter and sugar until pale. Add eggs one by one, mixing well with wooden spoon, then mix in vanilla and flour to combine. Add chocolate and mix well. Divide batter between cups. Refrigerate until ready to cook.

Place in oven and cook for 12 minutes. Remove from oven, run a pairing knife around the cake then turn upside down and un-mold onto serving plates. Carefully remove baking paper and serve with cream or ice-cream.
