Put the butter, syrup and broken up chocolate into a mixing bowl. You can either heat this over a large saucepan of simmer water on the stove or in the microwave.

Once the butter, syrup and chocolate have melted stop heating and continue to stir for a few seconds.

Add your cornflakes or rice krispies at this stage and mix well using a wooden spoon.

Carefully spoon the mixture into 12 cupcake cases.

Once you have all the mixture in the cases you may wish to add some decorative chocolate to the top, some of the things I have found to work best are mini eggs, maltesers or twirl bites.

Finally place the crispie cakes in the fridge for a minimum of 1 hour (I usually leave them longer to ensure they are fully set).
