Sift flour, sugar, salt and bicarb soda in a large mixing bowl.

Heat the butter, water, oil and cocoa powder together in a small sauce pan.

Bring to boil, remove from heat and cool.

Pour cocoa mixture into the flour mixture and mix well.

Whisk eggs and buttermilk together and add to cake mixture.

Pour mixture into a greased 22cm pan.

Bake at 180C for 25 to 30 minutes or until toothpick inserted in middle comes out clean.

Remove from the oven and cool in the pan for 5 minutes before turning out on a wire rack.

Melt the butter in a bowl in the microwave for 1 minute.

Remove and stir in the cocoa, buttermilk, vanilla essence and icing sugar.

Mix until smooth, then spread over the cake.
