Ingredients: 1 (6-7 lb.) fat hen or large chicken; 2 cans (14.5-oz.) chicken broth; 1 stick butter or margarine, divided; 1 can (10 3/4-oz.) cream of chicken soup; 3/4 c. finely chopped celery; 1 c. finely chopped onions; 1 Tbsp. poultry seasoning; 3 Tbsp. rubbed sage or to taste (can use ground sage); 1 Tbsp. salt (or to taste); 2 tsp. black pepper (or to taste); 3-4 slices loaf bread, finely crumbled

Cook hen in large stock pot with about 3 quarts water and 1/2 stick margarine.

Add more water as needed.

When chicken is getting tender and liquid has reduced to about half, add the two cans of broth.

Bring back to a boil and cook about 15 minutes longer.

Remove cooked chicken (reserving broth).

Stir in cream of chicken soup until well blended.

Debone chicken and set aside. Place 2 tablespoons margarine in skillet, add onions and celery, saute.

While chicken cooks make cornbread.
