1 egg
1 teaspoon vanilla
3 drops red food coloring (optional)
1 (4 ounce) bottle maraschino cherries, including juice
1 cup shredded coconut
1/2 cup chopped walnuts
1 cup chopped dates
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
2 cups flour

Mix baking soda, salt and flour together. Set aside.

Cream together sugar and butter.

Beat in egg, vanilla and food coloring if using.

Drop onto greased cookie sheet about 2 inches apart.
