Buttery Pecan Cookies

   Preheat the oven to 375 degrees.

   Cream together the butter and sugar until fluffy. Add the egg and vanilla and mix well. Add the flour, salt and soda and mix until incorporated. Stir in the chopped pecans.

   Scoop dough into rounded teaspoonfuls. Dip one side of the dough ball into brown sugar and place sugar side up on an ungreased cookie sheet. Press a whole pecan on the top of the cookie. Bake for 10 minutes until cookies are set and edges are golden.
