Bread And Butter Pudding

   Preparation 10 minutes. plus soaking

   1. Grease a 1.2Litre/2 pint oven proof dish.

   2. Spread the butter over the bread, cut each slice inhalf then arrange overlapping in the dish. Scatter over the sultanas.

   3. Beat the cream, milk, eggs, sugar and mixed spice together. Pour over the bread and leave to soak for 30 minutes.

   4.Pre-heat the oven to 180C/350F/gas mark 4.

   5. Put the dish in a roasting tin and pour enough hot water to come halfway up the sides of the dish. Bake for about 30 - 40 minutes until the top is golden but still slightly moist in the centre
