In another medium-size bowl, beat the eggs with a whisk until blended. Whisk in the melted butter and the vanilla. Make a well in the center of the dry ingredients and pour the wet ingredients. Using the wooden spoon, stir until the mixture is blended. Add the nuts with a few broad strokes. Spread the batter evenly in the prepared pan. Bake the bars on the center oven rack until golden and a tester inserted in the center comes out clean or with moist crumbs, 35 to 40 minutes. Place the pan on a rack to cool for 1 hour before cutting. Makes 9 to 12 bars.
