Preheat oven to 375u00b0F. For the blackberry mixture, combine blackberries and 1 tbsp water in small saucepan and bring to a boil. Reduce the heat and simmer, uncovered, until blackberries soften. Add the sugar and stir over medium heat, without boiling, until the sugar dissolves. Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat and simmer, uncovered, 5 mins. Remove from heat. Using the back of a large spoon, push the blackberry mixture through a sieve into a small bowl, discarding the seeds. Refrigerate 15 mins.

To assemble, beat the egg whites in a medium bowl with an electric mixer until soft peaks form. Gently fold in the blackberry mixture. Divide the mixture among four lightly greased 1-cup ovenproof dishes and place on a baking sheet. Bake, uncovered, about 12 mins or until the souffles are puffed and lightly browned. Dust with powdered sugar and serve immediately.
