1 c. unbleached flour
6 Tbsp. brown sugar - (packed)
1/2 tsp grnd cinnamon
1 tsp baking soda
2 1/2 tsp baking pwdr
1 tsp salt
1 Tbsp. caraway seeds
1 x egg
1/4 c. butter - (1/2 stick) melted
1 1/2 c. beer
3/4 c. raisins
2 Tbsp. natural bran or possibly oatmeal for garnish

Plump raisins in water for 5 min, drain.

Stir together whole-wheat and unbleached flours, brown sugar, salt, cinnamon, baking soda, baking pwdr and caraway seeds.

Make well in center and stir in egg and butter.

Spoon into greased 9-inch round cake pan.

Bake at 375 degrees till top is dry to touch, 40 to 45 min.
