Heat oil in a large skillet on medium heat. Cook the onions, stirring, for 5 mins or until soft. Add the beef and cook, stirring with a wooden spoon to break up the lumps, until no longer pink. Stir in the mushrooms. Add the tomato paste, sauce, gravy mix and 1 cup water and bring to a boil. Reduce the heat to low; simmer for 10 mins or until the mixture is thick. Cool.

Preheat the oven to 425u00b0F. Grease a 9-inch pie plate. Line with pie crust; trim edges.

Spoon beef mixture into pie crust. Brush the rim of the crust with a little egg. Top with puff pastry, pressing the edges to seal. Trim the excess puff pastry. Brush the top of the pie with a little more egg. Place the pie on a baking pan.

Bake the pie, on a lower oven shelf, for 40 mins or until the pastry is browned and crisp. Let stand for 10 mins before serving.
