Basic French Toast – a delicious recipe with Eggs, White Sugar, Allspice, Milk, Bread, Butter. Easy to follow and perfect for any occasion.

Beat eggs in a large deep dish (make sure all of the bread fits into the dish nicely). Add sugar, allspice and milk and beat well.

Press bread slices into the custard mixture and let it sit for at least 15 minutes, up to overnight. If you soak them overnight make sure to put the dish into the refrigerator.

To fry, melt butter over medium low heat in a griddle pan.

Remove the bread from the custard mixture. Gently place the bread into the pan, making sure not to crowd the pan. If need be, increase the heat but watch so that butter does not burn. Flip over the bread when sufficiently browned on the first side. Brown on the second side.

Serve up with your favourite topping! Mine is Nutella.
