   Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

   In a large skillet heat rice, stirring constantly till it turns golden.

   Transfer to an 8 qt casserole dish.

   In the same skillet, heat the butter; add in the chopped onions and mushrooms and saute/fry for five min till tender.

   Bake in the oven for 1 1/4 hrs, adding water if necessary to keep moist till rice is tender.
