   Cream butter with sugar. Add well beaten eggs and vanilla and beat the mixture well. Sift flour, baking powder and salt. Add the sifted ingredients to the creamed mixture. Mix thoroughly. Drop by teaspoonfuls on a well-greased baking sheet, making sure they are spaced quite a distance apart. Place a maraschino cherry on top of each. Bake in a hot oven (450u00b0) for 8 to 10 minutes or until lightly browned.
