Applesauce Cookies

   Mix applesauce and raisins; set aside.

   Combine sugar, egg and shortening in mixing bowl; beat until fluffy.

   Stir in applesauce and raisins.

   Sift flour with salt, baking powder, soda and spices.

   Add and mix well.

   Stir in nuts.

   Drop soft dough onto greased baking sheet.

   Bake at 375u00b0 for 12 to 15 minutes.

   They will be soft cookies.
