Combine flour, almonds, powdered sugar and a pinch of salt. Cut in butter until the mixture resembles breadcrumbs. Add egg then bring mixture together with your hands. Turn out onto a lightly floured surface and briefly knead until smooth. Wrap in plastic wrap and chill for 30 mins.

Preheat oven to 400u00b0F. Grease and flour a 10 inch loose-bottomed tart pan. Roll out pastry then use to line prepared pan. Gently press into edges and trim excess. Prick base with a fork then chill for 10 mins. Sprinkle crushed amaretti cookies over base then carefully cover with custard. Arrange apple slices on top in a circular pattern and bake for 25 mins.

Heat jam to loosen then brush over tart. Return to oven for 20-30 mins. Allow to cool for 20 mins before removing from pan. Can be served warm or cold.
