All-Purpose Tomato Sauce

   Quarter tomatoes and remove pith.

   Place tomatoes, bay leaves, garlic, and water in crockpot and cook uncovered on lowest possible heat for 8 to 10 hours, stirring occasionally, till mixture is thick enough to coat a spoon, and begins to bubble.

   Put mixture through a food mill or sieve.

   Add salt and pepper to taste.
