1
In a burr grinder set to a medium-fine grind size (about the texture of table salt), grind the coffee beans.
-
2
Place an AeroPress paper filter in the filter holder and rinse with water.
-
3
Assemble the two AeroPress cylinders so that the rubber plunger is at the number 4 mark on the brewing chamber.
-
4
Set the AeroPress upside-down, so that the open end of the brewing chamber faces up.
-
5
Add the ground coffee to the brewing chamber.
-
6
Add just-boiled water to the brewing chamber, saturating the coffee grounds and filling the chamber all the way to the top.
-
7
Quickly stir the brewing coffee, then let it stand for 1 1/2 minutes.
-
8
Stir again.
-
9
Add more hot water to bring the level back to the top.
-
10
Screw the filter holder with the rinsed filter onto the AeroPress.
-
11
Flip the AeroPress directly onto a sturdy mug and gently press the plunger down, forcing the brewed coffee into the mug; it should take about 30 seconds to fully drain the AeroPress.
-
12
(If the coffee tastes bitter, adjust your grinder to a slightly coarser setting; if the coffee tastes sour, adjust your grinder to a slightly finer setting.
-
13
For stronger coffee, use less water; for weaker coffee, dilute the finished brew to taste with boiling water.)
